The starting point for this project is the concept of island and isolation that I have started thinking about during my years in London, and now more strongly since I live in Dublin, Ireland. An island is a fascinating and mythical place, that is lost in time. An island can give a sense of escape and can mean wilderness and freedom, but can also mean solitude, forlorness. This series of images wants to convey to the viewer the atmosphere of an (atlantic) island. It wants to portrait a place that is quiet, that has its limits well defined by the sea. In order to do so, the images are small, unimpressive, with not much detail and just some basic shapes that distinguish one from the other. They are islands themselves on the piece of paper, confined by white ‘sea’ that surrounds them.
